Brokvarteret is a new residential area, located opposite the freight railway in Aarhus, and is part of a vision plan for a larger development area along Søren Frichs Vej, bordered to the east by the freight railway and to the west by Åbyhøj.

The block of flats consists of 3 commercial premises and 225 homes of varying heights of 5-7 floors with an internal raised courtyard, furnished with green open spaces for play and relaxation.

Under the courtyard is the parking structure with 202 parking spaces divided over two levels.

The work was challenged by limited space around the construction pits. The size of the stages therefore had to be adapted to the access conditions for the concrete pumps in order to keep the casting going for around 8-12 hours. Each pump was constantly manned by six to eight men, and there were also people in reserve at all times who could step in when the casting shed needed a break.

In connection with the casting of base plates, in-situ cast elevator shafts were also constructed in all construction areas.

Rolled reinforcement has been used in all the base plates. This was possible when it was approved to cut the reinforcement in the piles and replace them with drilled reinforcing bars.

One of the base plates is made with both reinforced concrete piles, steel piles and ground anchors. This is because the metro will pass under the construction and special considerations had to be taken.
